Description: Type III Hi Intensity Reflective Tape                                    

Type III high intensity reflective tape is know as an "encapsulated lens" sheeting, made of 2 layers - an outer translucent pigmented layer, and an inner reflective layer faced with glass beads. The two layers are connected by a lattice, hence its distinctive 'honeycomb' appearance, where the lattice pattern varies by manufacturer for easy identification. Generally regarded to have a ten year service life.

Encapsulated lens retroreflective sheeting was developed to provide greater reflectivity and durability when used for traffic signs and other types of traffic control and safety devices. ELR is made with high refractive index beads that are uniform in size and a high percentage of perfect roundness. Each bead is coated on ½ of its sphere with approximately 100% pure aluminum. Each aluminum coated half is embedded in synthetic resin. The top film of Type III high intensity reflective tape is fused to a synthetic resin based film, causing the retro reflective sheeting to resist de-lamination and render up to ten years of effective performance.
